After news broke of Zayn Malik getting into a physical altercation with his mother-in-law, Yolanda Hadid, Gigi Hadid released a statement to E! News, saying that she is focused on what's best for her daughter, Khai. Earlier today, TMZ reported that Malik allegedly struck Yolanda and he was quick to post a statement denying that anything happened.

"I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid," Malik said to TMZ. "For the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details."

A rep for Gigi shared that she won't be commenting on the news, saying, "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."

Malik also posted a note to his Twitter account, emphasizing that he is a "private person" and that he didn't want to engage in any of the rumors. Like Gigi, he said that he wanted to provide a safe space for his daughter. His tweet also offered a few more details, saying that there was "an argument" between him and a family member of his partner a few weeks ago, though he didn't offer specifics.

"As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private place for my daughter to grow up in," he wrote. "A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago."

His tweet continued, saying that he hopes that everyone involved can heal from the incident and that whatever happened "leaked" without his knowledge.

"This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been 'leaked' to the press," his tweet finished. "I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."

Yolanda hasn't publicly responded to the news.
